I am a huge fan of hotels that are kind to my children. The biggest “wow” factor for me when I visit a property is the way that the children are acknowledged and welcomed. I especially like the separate kids registration stations some hotels have, so that the young ones can sign in for themselves.
Ritz Carlton Amelia Island is one of the few resorts in the US that can boast both an 18-hole golf course as well as beachfront access. It’s a sprawling property about 30 minutes drive from Jacksonville Airport or if you’re arriving by private jet, the Fernandina Municipal Airport is just a few minutes away. The prestigious Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance Car Show is held on the grounds annually.
Amelia Island is the type of place that inspires nostalgia and a longing for a return to uncomplicated living. It’s not that it’s primitive, in any sense. It’s serene, and the coastal landscape with Spanish-moss-covered trees conveys a sense of history and identity. This was my second trip and I instantly regretted that my visit was not repeated sooner because I love this area and strangely, I missed it.
